Duke ~
Surrendered by his owner of 10
years, Duke became unadoptable when it was discovered that he suffered from
heart disease. Diagnosed with a
grade 3 (out of 4) systolic heart murmur,
and with no way to determine his life expectancy, the decision was made to
send Duke to long-term foster care. After surgery to remove an
abscess tooth and neuter, Duke is happily living life in Girard, Ohio with
several small fluffy companions. His new best friend is a sphynx

Buddy ~ the "notghan"
When
we received a call about an Afghan hound in the
shelter in Uniontown, PA, we called Truman’s Mom
for help. No problem. Bonnie
did, as she was asked, she went to the shelter and adopted Buddy. A
couple of days went by with phone calls before transport
was arrange to get Buddy to Camp Cunningham. Each time we asked about
Buddy's parentage, Bonnie was intentionally vague.
But she couldn't keep the secret for long. When the affie
transport arrived, the question was, "where's the afghan". But, not to
worry, he's cute, he's our responsibility, and we will find him a home.
When foster Dad, Don Cunningham stopped by
wife Sue’s office a few days later, Buddy
had an excellent view from the front seat. One
of Sue’s co-workers seeing the little furry face, fell in love with him. A
match made in heaven??? Buddy has a wonderful in Northern Ohio

Holly ~
Holly
found her way to rescue when her owner, who loved her very much, realized
that she could not provide the home that Harley needed. Born into a back
yard breeding situation, she was rescued at 6 months old by Bonnie Gross of
Indiana. Bonnie loves this dog more than life itself, but Harley was
jealous of Bonnie’s little fluffy dogs and the cats. For 2 years Bonnie
managed to keep the all the animals apart, by rotating dogs and sharing her
time, until health constraints made it more and more difficult for her to
manage and she realized that she was doing Harley an injustice. Amidst
many tears, Bonnie released Harley to AHRCO where she became Holly. After
several months enjoying the luxuries of Camp Debbie in WV,
guests at the 2004
reunion were able to witness a moment in time, known forever as
When Tom met Holly.

Leopold
~
Previously known
as Neo. Neo was found roaming the streets of a small Indiana town by a
young man who gave him to a friend who lived in the country. Neo lived
happily with the young family for a year or so until they sold their home to
move to the city. Because taking Neo was not an option his owners
contacted AHRCO to find Neo a new home.
Luckily
for Neo, Don Cunningham had been waiting for a “pale faced” affie to come
along. A few days later, Don and Sue drove the 10 hour return trip from
Marblehead Ohio, to Indiana to return with their pale faced affie. Renamed
Leo or Leopold, this beautiful boy immediately fit into the routine of the
Cunningham household. Even Princess Sophie didn’t mind sharing with the
newcomer.

Triston ~
Triston's owner moved to New
Zealand, leaving Triston in the care of a friend anticipating sending for
him once she was settled in her new country. Unfortunately, Triston's
guardian lives in the city where 3 dogs are too many. With
neighbors making frequent complaints to the city officials, and no place
else for Triston to go, arrangements were made, and pretty soon Triston
began to enjoy a new
life, in Cincinnati with Sue & Jim.
