Update - 1/27/06 - Shimmie left his family for Rainbow Bridge today.   He was a beautiful boy.   I am thankful to have known him, and that he brought such wonderful people as Bob & Jean into my life.

Shimmie, go in peace, you will be missed.........

SHIMMIE GOES HOME..........

Parting is such sweet sorrow...... what can we say, but THANK YOU Bob & Jean for offering your hearts and home to Shimmie so he may enjoy during his final years all that he has missed.

Shimmie has now gained 10lb......YEAH!!!    He is looking great and is ready to go home.    He has overcome some of his separation anxiety and is working hard on his house manners.   He 'speaks' loudly when he wants to go out or when wants a cookie.   He is not a very active boy.  He much prefers to laze around on the furniture and will spent his entire day snoozing if allowed.  He's very low maintence with his current hair style.

Copy of Shamier.jpg (18596 bytes) Shamier or Shimmie as he is affectionally known to his foster Mom arrived in rescue the day before loosing his home in a bank foreclosure.     Dirty, matted, unhappy, the emaciated Shimmie was immediately diagnosed as severely underweight at 39lbs.  He is a tall dog and should weight around 60 - 65lb.  Of course he had a few fleas and ticks to go along with an ear infection.

After 2 weeks of TLC, a steady diet of dry kibble, BILJAC and cottage cheese,  Shimmie returned to the vet's office to step on the scale and a second round of vacinations.  Already he has gained 5lbs.

As best we can determine, Shimmie has been rehomed 5 times in his 7 years.   He suffers from separation anxiety and will go to the bathroom in his basement kennel run within 15 minutes of being left alone.   We are working with him to overcome this.   '

Until then, Shimmie enjoys all the comforts of home..............
